A Revolutionary Leader with Proven National Impact

In May 2023, Dr. Musa Lumumba made history when he led the first ever cohort of doctors to undergo Patriotism and Leadership Development Training at NALI Kyankwanzi, a monumental step in aligning the health sector with the revolutionary values of the NRM. This initiative not only bridged the gap between the medical profession and national service, but also inspired a new generation of patriotic health workers.
On 8th April 2023, he went further to organize the first-ever Post Internship Dinner for Medical Doctors, Graduate Nurses, and Midwives — a landmark event that celebrated the dedication of Uganda’s young health professionals. The event was fully funded by H.E President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who was represented by the Vice President, Maj. (Rtd) Jesca Alupo. This initiative strengthened the bond between the medical community and the NRM government.
Dr. Lumumba has also played a crucial role in demobilizing unending strikes among intern doctors, nurses, and midwives across Uganda. His calm diplomacy, listening ear, and ability to engage with government leaders have restored calm, hope, and trust in the health sector.

A Continental Voice and Global Footprint

Before fully immersing himself in Ugandan politics, Dr. Musa Lumumba made his mark globally. In 2014 and 2015, he served as the African Youth Advisor to the Point 7 Delegation to the Global Fund Board in Geneva, bringing the voice of African youth into the heart of global health financing.
From 2016 to 2018, he served as an African NGO delegate to the Program Coordinating Board of the United Nations Joint Programme (UNAIDS) in Geneva and New York, where he represented African civil society in shaping HIV/AIDS policy. These roles shaped him into a seasoned negotiator and advocate, deeply connected with international development systems and youth movements.

A Divine Endorsement from the Fountain of Honour

Dr. Musa Lumumba’s journey into the NRM was divinely affirmed on 21st September 2017, when H.E President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, at the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, recognized and blessed him. The President held Musa’s hands in a fatherly embrace — a gesture that not only confirmed Dr. Lumumba’s calling into leadership but also opened the door for him to bring global insights and youth energy into the party.
Since that day, Dr. Lumumba has committed himself to living out the values of the NRM: peace, unity, socio-economic transformation, and African self-determination.
